Roy Duncan Park

The Westboro Beach Community Association (WBCA) has worked closely with the City of Ottawa, the landscape designer and the community on the concept plan for the park and playground renewal (please see below). The WBCA has also contributed funding that provided for the protective fencing, the flag pole and the bulletin board. Through a grant, WBCA was also able to purchase gardening tools for the community garden located on the north end of the park.

Roy Duncan Park is named after a former Ottawa Fire Chief who lived in the community. When the old Cummings Lumber Yard at the corner of Scott and Churchill was cleared away to build Van Lang, a large open area now known as Roy Duncan Park was kept by the City of Ottawa to be used as a playground for both the kids living at Van Lang and for the larger community. In more recent years, the area has been upgraded several times and there is now a soccer area for older kids and a small playground with splash pad for the younger ones.
