Guerrilla Gardening

Dip your toes into activism with guerrilla gardening. This is the ideal job because you can work when you want, for as many hours or minutes as you want, doing what you love, gardening!  Make a positive impact on our community by allowing the native species to dominate and reducing the presence of invasive European Buckthorn.

Requirements:
  1. A pair of sharp secateurs/clippers
  2. Ability to identify European buckthorn
  3. Work gloves (optional)

If you need help identifying buckthorn, or send Susan an email.

Pick one bush or more to tackle in the wild areas of our community. Every bit helps! Cut branches off, then simply pile the branches neatly on the side of the road and the City will pick them up during their normal rounds.

This plant is taking over in parts of our beloved Westboro Beach Community, particularly along Workman Ave. From there it can easily spread to all of our gardens.
